Created a very depressing jungle!

What inspires you to create?

I grew up in the middle of a field with no other kids around (other than my sister) so I’ve spent most of my life by myself quietly doodling. As such, I’ve always been really into all art (not just comics). Right now I’m really inspired by unique magazine and book design, particularly risograph printed material.

What’s your creative process?

I joke that if I come up with a good enough title for a comic or zine, then I have to make it. Typically, I start by figuring out a good size, then loosely organizing the pacing/jokes/page count, then I scrawl some panel layouts and some dialogue ideas down in a sketchbook before diving in. It may be odd, but I have never written a full script for anything I’ve ever made. I’m way too impatient for that.

Tools of the trade:

I’ll try just about anything to achieve a certain aesthetic. In the past I’ve done pen & ink, painting, sculpture, digital art, cut paper collage and even puppetry. Right now I’m using a very graphic style printed in large format newspapers created with Adobe Illustrator and colored in Photoshop.
