What inspires you to create?
I don’t currently draw comics professionally so I just focus on fun which often involves drawing strong beautiful women and weird sci-fi monsters. Getting into a creative flow has always been really fun for me. I try to focus on a merger of current events, childhood memories, and observations to gain inspiration.
What’s your creative process?
I start with rough sketches of ideas and then get feedback from friends to see if the message I’m trying to communicate is clear without any words on the page. Then I grab a reference. Sometimes I take photos of myself or action figures and Legos or find photos online to reference. Then finally I add my flavor to it so it doesn’t look so referenced.
Tools of the trade:
I’m currently leaning heavily into my iPad or pen and paper. I’ve almost completely abandoned my Cintique.
