What inspires you to create?
I suppose ultimately it’s the urge to bring beauty into the world, to cheer people up, and, perhaps, in a roundabout way, make the world a better place. It is a vocation, a passion, and when everything comes together it’s just the most wonderful feeling. And other pretentious comments in the same vein.
What’s your creative process?
Think of an idea, tease some themes out of that idea, let it sit awhile, simmer gently for 15-20 minutes on a medium heat, and see what other ideas arise out of that mess of themes of ideas. And then maybe some characters will form, and the rest of the story emerges. The rest of the process is pretending to write while secretly doing other things, or perhaps doodling for two minutes before getting distracted and going to watch the telly.
Tools of the trade:
Pencils, a pen, and paper for me, though I’ll spruce it up afterwards a bit digitally.
