Jason‘s thoughts:
For my first “official” Small Press Feedback pick, I was hoping I’d have more to say than just “Buy this book!” but that’s ultimately what anything else I’m about to write is going to boil down to.
I’ve been immensely enjoying Ryan’s random transmissions over the last several years, so I was beyond excited when I heard that he was going to be doing a collection of them. Ryan is one of my favorite artists. The dude can draw anything. And does. “Book of Things” is a beautiful highlight not just of his talent but of his extraordinary imagination.
I would imagine that years from now, teachers will use this as a “book of prompts” to give students a jumping-off point for writing a story (I’ve already written a couple myself based off a couple of the illustrations). And cool, creative parents will use this to tell crazy-ass bedtime stories to their kids.
To sum up: Buy this book!
