I sent the following to the awesome contributors of all the projects at Small Press Heroes and sharing here as well for those interested 🙂
Hey, y’all, the Small Press Heroes site and the Sunday Jam are now 2 years old! The domain and site maintenance fees on WordPress just came due so I thought this would be a good place to launch the SPH FunDrive!
Basically this is just what will become an annual request for support if you’ve been enjoying all the shenanigans that go on with the Small Press Heroes site. We’ve done a lot of fun stuff over the last couple of years, not least of all being the Sunday Jam, which is almost 100 pages in (page 99 is going up tomorrow courtesy of Steve Steiner and it’s not to be missed!).
If you’re wondering how you can support this creative venture, there are several different ways:
1. Give us some money! The costs are pretty minimal but they do add up. The current balance for this project is -$224 (which is actually pretty good for a small press project), so throwing a couple bucks my way is most appreciated. There are several ways to contribute here: https://smallpressheroes.com/welcome-to-small-press-heroes/support-sph/
2. Buy a book! Joe Bagdon has been awesome in printing contributor copies of the Small Press Heroes at no cost, so you can return the favor and pick up some of the awesome books he puts out: https://smallpressheroes.com/sph-bazaar/bantam-house/
OR, buy something from one of the creators featured in the SPH Bazaar: https://smallpressheroes.com/sph-bazaar/ By the way, if you’d like to also have a storefront at the site, just let me know.
3. Get involved! There are a ton of ongoing projects, including the Sunday Jam, Jam Around the World, A Small Press Carol and Rex Lively, the Small Press Traveler, and we’d love to have your creativity. Or if you’ve got a different project you’d like to launch at Small Press Heroes, I’d love to hear about it.
4. Recruit! If you don’t have the bandwidth to get involved, rope your creative friends in! The more the merrier! They can reach out through the Contact page: https://smallpressheroes.com/about-contact/
And that’s it! I can’t thank y’all enough for all your involvement over the last two years, I never imagined the amount of sheer awesomeness that would be created for this project and every new page and project is an amazing gift all its own.
Keep being the amazingly talented creators that you are!
